# First-run setup



The first time Knosy opens, a single setup screen walks you through everything. You can change any of these choices later in [Settings](/docs/settings).

## Connect your hosts [#connect-your-hosts]

Knosy detects whether Claude Code Desktop and Codex are installed and offers to connect them. The connection is what lets Knosy offer context on your first prompt and follow session status.

Nothing is changed without your consent, and before any change Knosy backs up your existing configuration. You can disconnect at any time and everything else in your configuration stays exactly as it was.

Claude Chat and Claude Cowork are coming soon and will appear here when available.

## Automatic scope picker [#automatic-scope-picker]

When enabled, Knosy opens the scope picker the moment you send a first prompt in Claude Code without a confirmed context. If you prefer to start sessions from Knosy only, leave it off: prompts then simply continue with your Private context.

## Launch at login [#launch-at-login]

Choose whether Knosy starts when you sign in. Nothing is enabled without your confirmation.

## Global shortcut [#global-shortcut]

The default shortcut is `Ctrl+Alt+K`. It opens the capsule from anywhere, and pressing it again returns the capsule to its compact form. If the shortcut is taken by another app, Knosy tells you instead of pretending it works, and you can pick a different one.
